An early 20th century gentleman's collapsible black silk top hat with original red cardboard box. The hat labelled inside; By Appointment, Scott &Co. Hatters to H.M. the King, The Royal Family, 1 Old Bond Street Piccadilly.W. The other top hat being silk plush, often referred to as ‘Moleskin’. The interior hat label: Herbert Johnson, 38 New Bond St, London.W. The box black tall and thin with a leather strap. (2). Silk hat opened: 15.5cm high. “Moleskin” hat 16.5cm high. Condition; The collapsible silk hat has slight wear to the top side rolled edges and two small fine wear holes near the back. Part of the base edge of the box is missing and the top broken, but just still useable. The “Moleskin” hat the black silk has holed on the outer cuff of hat one side and slightly on the top edge, due to handling. The interior leather is stained. The box is worn and top corners broken but still useable.
