1966 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases 'Grand Vin de Leoville' Saint-Julien, France (1) Critic tasting note: (1966 vintage) "Best showing of this yet, from wines all from the same case. Rustic, yet charming in an old school way. More tobacco, green leaf, cedar chest, lead pencil, green pepper and wet earth than fruit. But there were elements of cherry able to poke through. Strict on the palate, the wine ended with earthy, red fruits and hints of green olive.

(2004) Tasted twice, the first bottle was a more muscular version of the 64. But the second bottle was magnificent: ripe cedar and wet earth on the nose. Rounded tobacco infused palate. Very fine concentration. Med-full bodied. Impeccable balance. A point. Superb.
