1978 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac, France. (1)
Provenance: From the estate of the well regarded Lewes collector, Brian Cramp. Château Pichon Lalande 1978 is a fully mature Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux. Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a prestigious Second Growth Pauillac estate owned by Louis Roederer Champagne. "An excellent 1978 (one of the top wines of the vintage), Pichon-Lalande`s offering displays an aromatic profile consisting of roasted herbs, chocolate, cedar, tobacco, and ripe curranty fruit. Medium-bodied, with low acidity, some tannin, and a round, attractive personality, this wine has reached its plateau of maturity, where it should remain for another decade." Robert Parker, 1998
