A Chinese pale celadon jade hanging vase and cover, 18th / 19th century, the jade vase carved from one piece of stone of good even tone, with looped swing handle above a taotie mask band and a ribbed lower register, on an oval foot, the domed cover with ribbed button finial, height 13.6cm, archaistic hongmu stand, total height 24cm

Provenance: gifted in the 1960s to a Chase Manhattan bank executive by the Rockefeller family, thence by family descent.

Condition:
There are occasional natural inclusions to the stone, there’s a very slight ground off area to the edge of the foot where there is a russet inclusion, otherwise the Jade is in good condition with some slight grubbiness and remnants of Sellotape which once held the cover in position. The wood stand appears to be in good condition. Please see photographs.
