A Chinese famille verte ‘warriors’ vase, 19th century, of baluster shape painted with theatrical battle scenes, in Kangxi style, unglazed base, height 28cm, wood cover and stand, small losses to wood cover

Provenance - A. E. Bateman; thence by family descent.
Bateman was the representative for the prominent British merchant firm Dodwell & Co. in Kyobashi in the 1920s. The firm operated in Shanghai and Yokohama from the late 19th to mid 20th century, acting as a major import/export and shipping agent.

Typical minor glaze imperfections; pre-firing chip at neckrim, glazed-over, image 8. A little grubby and would benefit from a clean, the wood cover has a few small losses, otherwise in good condition.
