The Wine Society's contemporaneous notes on this special release: 'This special cuvée from the 1995 vintage was chosen to celebrate The Wine Society's 125th Anniversary in 1999. For 92 of those 125 years, the Society has been buying Champagne from the house of Alfred Gratien in Epernay. A traditional, small, family firm, Gratien is widely recognised as one of the finest producers in Champagne. This cuvée has all the hallmarks of Alfred Gratien; elegantly fruity with finest and a full flavour that lingers on the palate.'
