Hill of Grace: 100% shiraz grapes from pre-phylloxera material brought from Europe by the earliest settlers in the mid-1800s and grown on the Hill of Grace vineyard in the Eden Valley.
Hill of Grace is a unique, delineated, historic single vineyard.

Tasting note: Very deep brick-red in colour. Beguiling lifted aromas of blackberries, ripe plums and baked cherries with overtones of five spice and Dutch liquorice. The expressive palate is rich and
lush, with great purity and weight driving intense layers of fine velvety tannins through a
long, luscious finish.
Great vintage, 30+ years (from vintage).

The 1993 Penfolds Cabernet Shiraz Bin 389 combines the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon with the
richness of Shiraz and demonstrates the traditional Penfolds' trademark - perfect balance between fruit and oak, to produce a wine with rich varietal characters and cellaring potential.

Vineyard notes: "The first plantings at Yarra Yering into block No. 1
were these Cabernet vines and the name was born. The Malbec was also
part of the original 1969 plantings. Merlot vines were originally
interplanted with the Cabernet with subsequent plantings made in 1990
on the newly acquired neighbouring land along with the Petit Verdot."
