A rare late 17th century cream silk purse, possibly a bible bag, the front finely embroidered in polychrome silks with scrolling carnations and leaves within a stump worked metallic thread vase, the back embroidered with scrolling roses within a stump worked two handled metallic thread vase, the purse edged in fine gold braid and the interior lined in pale rose pink silk, 15.5cm wide x 9.5cm high.

The colours and embroidery undamaged or faded. The cream silk slightly discoloured with age and use, slight wear to lower right corner of back and gold braid pulled very slightly at front opening from use Lining slightly faded, with minor wear both sides to bottom of gusset.
