A George III gold and enamel mourning pendant, circa 1786, of navette-shaped outline, the central glazed compartment with a monogram of confronted 'L' in cut gold, to a ground of blue guilloché and white enamel, within a beaded border, the reverse engraved with an oval wreath containing the inscription 'John Leppingwell Ob 4th Aug 1786 aet 42' and 'Affection Weeps Heaven Rejoices', surrounded by engraved ribbon bows and laurel sprays, length 5.6cm, gross weight approximately 20.4 grams
