(1), 161 and (1), 162-334pp. (printed and paged rectos only). printed wrappers, folio. *Enid Algerine Bagnold (1889-1981) British novelist and playwright; well-known as the author of 'National Velvet' (1935), filmed in 1944 with the young Elizabeth Taylor; her major stage success 'The Chalk Garden' (1955) was filmed in 1964 (with Edith Evans and Deborah Kerr). In 1920 she married Sir Roderick Jones, Chairman of Reuters, living is Sussex at North End House, Rottingdean (near Brighton), previously the home of Sir Edward Burne-Jones. The recipient of the gift was a Brighton friend.
