£3,000-5,000

Condition:
A remarkably attractive brooch with some generously sized rose-cut diamonds, the largest two approximately 6.2 x 6.4mm and approximately 7.2 x 4mm, depths not accessible in mounts. Diamonds of mixed colour and clarity grades typical of period, one with a noticeable pink tint, which could either be the stone or discolouration to the foiling, which could be contributing to the colour variations of the stones. Ottoman origin is likely due to the archaic choice of rose-cut diamonds, the style and execution of the brooch, but European origin also possible. Assuming Ottoman, this was possibly an aigrette or a turban ornament with a later added pearl and diamond pendant and brooch fitting. Pearl of attractive grey body colour with rich pink and green overtones, with uneven nacre but nice lustre. Typical discoloration to silver. Overall in good, wearable condition, gross weight 16 grams.
