David Smith (British, 1920-1999), oil on canvas, 'Sastrugi Number 1, Antarctica', signed and dated 1977 50 x 66cm Provenance; from the artists' studio. David Smith was born in Lowestoft and exhibited around the world. He wrote several books and travelled as an artist on the QEII, with the British Antarctic Survey and painted the lighthouses for Trinity House.
