An early 17th century Indo-Portuguese ivory inset hardwood travelling chest with brass loop handles, steel escutcheon and drop front opening to reveal an arrangement of six drawers, the central one with concealed base compartment, 36cm wide, 26cm deep, 23cm high.

Condition:
Overall of a rich brown tone, mounts to the corners and handles look original, steel bosses and escutcheon to the front possibly later additions, certainly something is missing above the escutcheon with appears to align with where the screws for the lock have started to show through, comes with a working key, internally good condition, no key for the central drawer lock, inset ivory decoration has numerous small losses and later replacements.
