A George III fish skin covered knife box, housing a set of twelve George IV silver handled table knives, the knives with shell and scroll pistol grip handles, engraved with owl and arm and sword crests, and broad curved steel blades, stamped L & O, makers initials IL, Sheffield c.1825, together with a set of six George V silver handled cake knives, box height 33cm, length of knives 27cm, of which the blade is 16.5cm.

Condition:
Knife box a little rubbed at the edges but essentially in good order, has original handles and lock but lacks key, knives - handles with some wear from use, some of which is now eroding the crests, most with a reasonably clear set of hallmarks but some degree of variants with not all having legible date letters or a complete set of marks, blades oxidised and discoloured. Tea knives a little battered. There are six smaller knives measuring 15cm in length. The set of twelve measure 27cm in length.
