The original painting hangs in the Louvre. During his visit in September, 1802, M.J. Turner made a drawing of the painting into his sketchbook, which is now in the British Museum.
Provenance: Purchased by the present owners in Cannes, South of France, in 1977.

This picture looks to be a 20th century work in the 17th century style, canvas is rather saggy, paint a little dirty with a fine craquelure scattered throughout that is starting to lift but remains intact at present, housed in a carved giltwood frame which has a few small dents and knocks.
