John Dart (revised by Timothy Thomas, who compiled the Glossary) Contemporary and early mss. were consulted; testimonials from other writers, including Gower, Lydgate and Spenser were included. Provenance: From the private collection of the late Terry Jones (1942-2020), known for his roles as a writer, comedian, and member of the Monty Python comedy troupe.

Some leather wear on covers, corners strengthened, browning margins of port. frontis. & in the gutter of frontis./title, also in the gutter of Chaucer port. & text, title with some browning at outside corners, o/w mostly clean inside, e/ps. replaced (and with some browning); d-col. printing. (1), 27, (28-50), 626, 82pp. (81pp. the Glossary, with part title; p.82 is Errata); neat ownership head of title - 'J. Church. Nov:12, 1761, and the preserved old crested bkplt. of 'Bateman'. It is complete works with 27 engraved plates for the Canterbury Tales.
