A Roman oval intaglio amethyst, carved with a figure with staff and pedestal, set in a later heavy gold ring mount, with a closed back setting, size N, gross weight 20 grams.

Visible wear to the surface of the amethyst in general, consistent with age and use. Tiny chip to the top and bottom of the stone. Minor nicks and scratches to the shank and setting. Stone size approx. 16.7mm by 11.1mm.
