Condition:
Both oils on original canvas in honest untouched condition, he with rather saggy canvas, stretcher marks showing, craquelure running throughout which is starting to lift particularly near the top left corner, bloom in the varnish and a hint of retouching at the bridge of his nose, she in slightly better condition with tighter canvas although still stretcher marks showing, both will benefit from a good clean, housed in original giltwood frames which have been overpainted and suffer small losses. Provenance: By family descent from The Dudley Family, Exhibited Royal Institution of Cornwall John Opie and Henry Bone Exhibition 1951, no's 7 and 8 and City Art Gallery, Plymouth, John Opie Exhibition 1957 no's. 5 and 6.
