A Napoleon III rosewood games table, by J. A. Jost of Paris,
with crossbanded rectangular top, rising to reverse to baize and a side flap lowering to reveal additional chess, draughts, baize and roulette inserts, a further drawer houses baize lined backgammon board and contains a divided compartmented tray with dominoes, chessmen, two sizes of draught, bone tokens etc. along with a 36cm roulette wheelon turned and fluted tapered legs,

Condition:
Overall of a dark brown rosewood tone. Losses to veneers on one side. The main central insert now faded down to a dull brownish colour with central marquetry spray of flowers which is equally dulled, the opposing side of that insert has later discoloured baize and retains the strip of original tooled gilt leather border, both other inserts are in very good original condition with fresh green baize, the chessboard top has some slight discolouration to a few of the pale squares, the other insert with the original decorated baizes, drop flap drawer has original working key enclosing the named makers plaque, minor scuffing and wear to the legs.
