Distressed copy, heavy rubbing (especially volume 4). Spines worn and joints cracked. Volume 4 spine particularly distressed, upper board present but detached and lower board loose. Hinges cracked, endpapers loose. Text mainly clean with intermittent spotting throughout. No sign of existing or previous tape repairs anywhere.
