carved in high relief with reserves of scholars amid rocks beneath a pine tree, within lotus flower and scrolling tendril borders, the neck carved with a series of lappets, marked ‘CHINA’ beneath,

Provenance - The Hon. Alfred Clive Lawrence (1878-1926) thence by family descent.
Total height 60.5 cm, base of vase drilled
£400-600

Condition:
The cinnabar lacquer is a little grubby and would benefit from a clean. There is a small drilled hole to one side the base of the vase where it must have once had a lamp fitting. There is a little flaking to the lacquer around the rim of the vase and a tiny open crack on the shoulder. The stand has a large crack circling the dish top and some flaking around the legs, otherwise in reasonable condition.
