A late 19th century Chinese rosewood altar table, frieze carved with archaic scrolling motifs, on moulded square section supports and block feet, W.6ft 2in.

The top has a number of inserted pieces of wood to hide gaps in the top, one towards the front, a long thin strip, and on each of the mitred corners and a narrow triangular patch repair back left, from the underside the top has replacement bearers and blocks, the top is also probably slightly warped as there is a gap between the frieze and the moulding at the front, there are some general repairs to the spandrels which support the overhanging part of the top front and back and on the rear of the table, the friezes also carved and it is possible that the central part which dips down is a recarved replacement, also each trestle end supports stands on bracket feet which are in rosewood but may be later replacements.
