A late 18th century English white and red ivory chess set,

A late 18th century English white and red ivory chess set, in mahogany box, king 7cm tall, the property of Sir George Paish as suggested on hand-written label on lid. The set is a variation of the "George Washington" style set, reference photo 26 in Donald M.Liddell's Chessmen.

The white natural pieces are as follows:-
The tallest piece with the crown device on top is missing one spike from the edge and has a slight indentation or loss on the edge of the foot and one of the pawns has some slight red staining to the base which has probably transferred from the red stained side.
Red stained pieces as follows:-
All pieces have some occasional re-touching to the red staining where it has faded in strong sunlight but no apparent repairs. The tallest piece king or queen? with the crown has a chip to the turned pedestal where it joins the main body and one of the rooks has a small chip to one of the crenellations which has been coloured in. Some pieces have occasional wear exposing the natural white ivory in places, otherwise in reasonable condition.
