Oil on canvas looks to have been relined many years ago, canvas remains tight and paint retains texture, rather dirty with some fine but stable craquelure running through much of the paint, very dark across the bottom with the bottom 2 to 3 inches almost black with some crackling and one or two small flake losses of paint, signature may well be concealed in this darker area, housed in an old and possibly original gilt gesso frame which has some small chipping.
