Estimate £1,500-2,000

Provenance - Bonhams, Fine English and Welsh Ceramics and Glass, 13 December, Lot 351.

A number of services painted in this style are recorded and three are discussed by W D John, Nantgarw Porcelain, Supplement Number Two. The decoration is very similar to that found on the Mackintosh of Mackintosh service. The only distinguishing features are the shape and moulding of the rim. The Mackintosh service has a smooth rim and alternate large and small lobes, whereas the service of which this plate forms part has a 'pie crust' moulding and twelve equal lobes. The establishment of Robbins and Randall of Barnsbury Street, Islington is thought to be responsible for the decoration.

Typical minor glaze imperfections. There is a tiny amount of wear to the gilding on the edge and occasional fine scratches to the gilding otherwise in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration detected.
