A late 19th century French ormolu mounted Sevres style porcelain mantel clock, width 8.25in. height 15.25in.

A late 19th century French ormolu mounted Sevres style porcelain mantel clock, with jewelled decoration, of urn form supported by faun head ormolu supports upon a shaped oval base, the dial painted with Cupid, eight day Japy Freres movement numbered F1607/5355, width 8.25in. height 15.25in.
Estimate £600-800

All of the joints where ormolu meets porcelain are rather loose and wobbly, there has been a break through the neck of the porcelain just about level with the top of the faun's heads (just beneath the ormolu ring), this has been reasonably well restored but can still be seen, gilding to porcelain good, a few small losses to the jewelling principally to the turquoise coloured beading around the top of the base, dial a little dull in finish, is not and looks to never have been glazed, slight raising of the gilding around the white interspacers between the numerals looks slightly pitted, hands look original, gilt Sevres interlaced mark to the underside, movement has a bell but no pendulum or key, looks complete but unable to be tested for timekeeping.
