W. Thornhill & Co. A late Victorian gilt brass four glass calendar mantel clock, with gilt Roman dial and additional dials for date, day and month, plinth with inscription B J Buxton from JHB & GMB 1886, eight day movement with mercury pendulum striking on a gong stamped A1, the gong P.S., width 13in. depth 8.5in. height 16in.

Case retains original lacquered finished, oxidised and dirty on the top and less so but still on other raised surfaces, better on the sides but still in need of a repolish and re-lacquer, dial equally a little oxidised but looks original as do all of the hands, inscription to the front of the plinth rubbed over the years and now a little hard to read, movement looks to be original but the mechanism connecting the movement to the calendar mechanics is now missing, one or two small loose screws etc within the case, comes with an associated key, back of the case scratched around the door mechanism with old breaks to the lower corners of the back glass, side glasses both good, movement not tested for timekeeping.
