A rare Derby porcelain group of a cat and kitten with prey, c.1810-25, possibly modelled by Edward Keys, the standing white cat grasping a birds in its mouth with a recumbent kitten on a gilt and white rectangular cushion base, unmarked, H. 5cm, tail restored

cf. Dennis G. Rice, Cats in English Porcelain of the 19th century, page 38 where the author states that the Derby group of 'New Cats with Prey' 1s 6d' included in Haslem's list of models turned our by Edward Keys has yet to be discovered. It appears this group is the undiscovered model in question which Dennis Rice acquired after publishing his book.

There is a chip loss to the birds left wing and as mentioned in the main description there is restoration to the cats tail which is very slightly creamier than the white glaze on the rest of the cat, otherwise in good condition with no cracks chips or other restoration detected.
