Estimate £300-500

A handsome mirror of good rich colour, the main frame and two upright supports are marquetry inlaid into walnut and of a rich dark treacle colour, the plinth foot is a later association with differing marquetry and differing colour to the walnut, upper section all retains original ormolu mounts with good rich gilt finish, some light rubbing in patches, plate although old is probably a later replacement, no sign of any oxidisation to the silvering, signs of some repair to where the left side of the frame attaches to the upright, two small brass receivers on the inside of each upright which may at one time have been for something like candle sconces, back of the mirror is finished with a marquetry panel of flowers in a vase but with plainer ormolu banding to match the uprights, overall a good looking piece that at one time was clearly attached to a different base, but for whatever reason is now attached to the later plinth.
