Cf. D G. Rice, Rockingham Ornamental Porcelain, colour plate 10.

Provenance:
The Dennis G. Rice collection of fine Rockingham porcelain

As well as being an avid collector of Rockingham ornamental porcelain and animal figures, Dr. Dennis G. Rice was an academic and wrote two key reference works on the subject – Rockingham Ornamental Porcelain (1965) and the Illustrated Guide to Rockingham Pottery & Porcelain (1971).
A number of the pieces illustrated in the books are offered below. The Rockingham animals figures in the collection are also published in Dennis G. Rice's companion books Dogs & Cats in English Porcelain and English Porcelain Animals of the 19th Century.

There is fine crazing to the glaze all over with some occasional light staining to the front. There is more noticeable pale brown staining to the back of the plate (see photos). There are two small losses to leaves and other tiny losses to flower petals otherwise in good condition for such a delicate piece.

Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
