A Victorian novelty rosewood sewing cabinet, in the form of an upright piano, the lid keyboard and lower front panel all opening to reveal drawers and compartments, ivory and mother of pearl keyboard and label for Bes Watton, 13in. height 12in.

The piano has a number of hidden compartments as follows: the back panel is warped and has a split down the centre but hinges to reveal a single central hidden drawer with contains a pen rest and a pair of electroplate glass inkwells and a couple of compartments, this is immediatley behind the keyboard and bear the label EG Swatton Pianoforte Maker, where the back panel is opened up on the left flank are small holes for individual candles of which there are some still in position and you open up the front area for the keyboard cover, the keyboard has removable and is ivory and abalone veneered keys, there is abalone missing to three of the keys and one of the metal rests for sheet music is missing, on the front there are two mirrored glass panels which are heavily worn and stained, the panel between the legs and under the keyboard is removable to reveal a velvet lined panel with slots for sewing accessories and then there are two central drawers above a pair of compartments with removable covers and flanking each side there are two further removable panels each with three drawers hidden behind them, one of them is missing a handle and in the centre one of the removable panels has been broken and reglued, the piano also has missing candlearms to each side.
