A Tongan or Fijian whale tooth pendant, PLEASE NOTE WE ARE UNABLE TO DATE THIS PIECE carved in the form of a human, H. 5.5cm

cf. a whale ivory necklace, accession no. Z 2752, in the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Cambridge, presented to Lady Gordon around 1875-80, which is suspended with similar human-shaped figures.

The owner bought the figure at a boot fair 8 years ago in a box of other items.
There are age cracks to the whale tooth all over, the colour is a little bleached out according to the owner he did wear this as a pendant and went swimming with it a number of times which may have bleached any colour out.
