Top is probably a later replacement in a light golden tone with one or two cracks splits and surface scuffing but overall does not have the feel of the rest of the piece, the main body of the chest is a dull mid brown tone with differentiation of colour so that one can see the parquetry and inlay although it is all evenly faded, front drawer has some old patch repairs and scuffing to the left of the escutcheon, drawers are pine lined, third and bottom drawer down have lost their lock, no key present for any of the drawers, left side has a central vertical split running through the cartouche panel and further lifting of the veneers lower down, right side shows some slight lifting of the veneers above the cartouche panel and further lifting and patching lower down, foot is ebonised and has probably been retouched over the years and again shows old splitting scuffs and damage commensurate with age, carved feet look to be later replacements.
