A 19th century English violin, label for John Betts Royal Exchange London 1861, The one piece back with medium curl, the sides and head matching, replacement neck, rubbed orange brown varnish, length of back 36.5cm, cased with three bows

There are several splits to both of the F holes, there is general scuffing scratching and wear to the varnish on the back plate, front plate, sides and edges, the neck is a replacement and has been later inset, though the scroll looks to be original and there is some indentations to the wood on the scroll around the peg holes, the bridge is detached and the violin needs restringing, one of the bows needs restringing and has nickel mounts, the other two are split at the ends next to the tightening nut, one with an ivory frog.
