Albert de Belleroche (1864-1944)
oil on canvas
Half length portrait of a nude black man
30 x 20.5in.
Estimate £400-600
Oil on original canvas in honest untouched condition, not relined, stretcher marks showing with one horizontally across the centre of the canvas but another also showing to the left implying that the canvas was re-used or taken from another larger frame at some point, top right corner has a diagonal crease mark running across as if it had been folded down at some point, otherwise very dirty but no further damage noted, not signed, housed in an ornate gilt gesso scroll frame which is now rather tatty and dirty, paper label verso inscribed Standing Nude, not in Exhibition Belleroche which looks to be William Belleroche's hand.
Provenance: Ex Collection William de Belleroche
