Philippe Aird was taught as a child by L.S Lowry, a family friend, and also learned drawing and painting techniques from Harold Riley. At 16 he enrolled at Salford College of Art, going on to gain a scholarship to the Chelsea College of Art and Design, where he was able to experiment with a variety of media. He won the Timeout-sponsored International Video Festival in 1982. An established artist with a successful career spanning several decades, Aird's work is in collections across the world, bringing his flair for colour and composition to his signature medium, best described as 'liquid glass'.
