Lot 417 , An early 20th century bronze and champleve enamel clock garniture, 8in.
An early 20th century bronze and champleve enamel clock garniture, with architectural clock signed Greaves, New Street, Birmingham, 11in. and a pair of matching candlesticks, 8in.
Estimate £200-300
All three pieces of the garniture look to have been lacquered at some point so the ormolu work has taken on a very dull and rather dirty looking tone, clock shows some fine pitting to the enamelling but essentially all enamelled is complete and in good order, dial signed H. Greaves, New Street, Birmingham Paris Make, numerals to the dial are worn, dial has what looks to be the original matted gilding, eight day movement looks to be in good order, has Vincenti stamp along with Made in France and the numbers 12433. Comes with brass pendulum, not tested for timekeeping
Candlesticks need the central columns tightening, they are a little wobbly and lean slightly out of true, both have been lacquered giving a similar dull finish to the metal work, enamelling again with some tiny probably original pitting but otherwise complete, wax pans are very slightly bent out of shape with one lifting up at the corners slightly more than the other, overall this garniture is in good original condition.
