This watercolour looks very flat and is thought to be laid down, colours no doubt a little faded but still with fair strength, one or two scattered dirt specks, some of which is just loose insect dirt on the work, signed lower right, under glass in a 19th century gilt gesso which has some losses to the edge mouldings.
