16th century Continental School
oil on canvas
Still life of flowers in an ornate vase, a wasp alongside
monogrammed
23 x 17in.
Estimate £1,200-1,800
Oil on canvas which remains tight, one patch showing near 3 o'clock which has been well concealed from the front, otherwise a fine but stable craquelure running throughout, indistinct monogram lower left, housed in a later bronzed giltwood frame which suffers a few rubs and minor losses, no labels or inscriptions verso.
The vendor states that this work was appraised by Bonhams who said it was 16th century, we would suggest that the buyers make their own mind up as to whether it is 16th of 17th century.
