A Chinese export ivory basket and a similar pair of vases, 19th century, the octafoil basket pierced and carved with figures amid pavilions and trees, 21.5cm, the vases carved an pierced with dragons amid clouds on diaper ground, wood bases, 12cm, slight damage

Basket has several cracks and very slight losses to the pierced ivory panels, many of which are slightly mis-shapen, with evidence of old glue repairs to the ribs holding the panels together and to the circular base underneath, the ivory is also slightly grubby and discoloured, one of the ivory vases has some losses to the diaper ground and the bottom edge, neither have base panels as they have fitted wood stands made for them at the time, one of the wood stands is missing a section of the pieced apron.
