A late 19th century Black Forest relief carved wood cabinet on stand, decorated in relief throughout with edelweiss blooms, the two doors opening to reveal ten short drawers, all with quilted interiors, W.2ft 5in. D.1ft 2in. H.4ft 6in.
Estimate £400-600
Looks like there was once something that stood on top of the cabinet, probably a carving of an animal or further flowers, obviously this is now missing, old stable worm holes showing where something once sat there, a few other worm holes scattered throughout the piece, only really notable across the foot of the cabinet, particularly the lower left side, one or two small nicks to the petals and leaves of the edelweiss to the doors but overall fair, interior looking very good with original pale green quilted buttoned silk inside all of the drawers, comes with two lovely gothic brass keys, bottom drawer opens to show similar lining and quilting, this stands freely on the table base which again shows worming particularly running throughout the frieze and down the right leg where there has been some loss of timber, colour is an even dull brown finish, overall this piece has seen fairly extensive worming which whilst we are happy is no longer active will render some of the timbers rather pliable and delicate and will need some attention.
