A Japanese ivory group of a man carrying two boys, Meiji period, one boy holding a basket of persimmon fruit some of which has spilled out on to the floor, inscribed to the base, height 16cm, age cracks and losses

A sectional carving, the main part of the okimono is carved from one piece except for the right leg of the man which has some later damage and a screw fitting just above the knee, both boys have sections to their heads, one of which the old glue has come apart and we now have three pieces which will fix together but the old glue needs removing to do this properly, the base of the okimono has some large cracks, some of which are open and there are a few other age cracks to the ivory notably across the right side of the mans head and towards the back of the group.
