Estimate £3,000-5,000

This bust depicts artist's son Robin at nine months old. Wheeler unsuccessfully submitted it to the RA twice before he decided to add a halo and call the work The Infant Christ; whereupon it was accepted and became the first of his works to be bought by the Trustees of the Chantry Bequest, for £150. The Times (12 May 1924) called the work 'enchanting'.
