Lot 278 , A George III pierced silver small fish slice/server, 7in.

A George III pierced silver small fish slice/server, 7in.

A George III pierced silver small fish slice/server, with bright cut engraved decoration and stem with turned ivory handle, Benjamin Montague, London, 1784 (incuse duty mark), 7in.
Estimate £100-120

The handle is very slightly loose in situ. The fixing for the handle on the underside of the blade appears a little clumsy but looks original. There is a very tiny split to the silver scroll close to the fixing point. There is one long split to the handle down one side and numerous other small hairlines also. There are a couple of minor dings to the handle along with a tiny surface split. Engraving on the blade still crisp and hallmarks are clear.
