A 19th century sailor's shellwork double Valentine, decorated with heart motif and crabs, in folding octagonal hardwood case, 9in.

This is an authentic 19th century Valentine in the original wooden frame, some of the varnish over the central shells is showing rather dark and the body of the main crab has broken away, the two smaller crabs possibly also suffer some losses but appear to be mostly intact.
