The following 16 lots come from The Estate of Michael Norman of Shoreham, renowned local collector of Shoreham and Sussex related historical works.
Marbled paper outer cover with label Housekeeping Recipes Mrs C Gilbert, 28 pages, watermarked c.1813-16, internal cover with barely filled in index. Recipes include to make a rich seed cake, to make tinture of rhubarb, a certain cure for worms, with some of the recipes attributed to other ladies such as white soup from Mrs Taylor, even including a receipt for a dangerous fever or plague, cover rather scuffed, edges of all pages rather tatty and grubby with some fox marking inside the pages but fair condition for age, most of the script is legible.
