Please note our change of attribution. These are stylistically like Chambers but the date clearly falls outside his lifetime. Both relined 10 - 20 years ago, canvases remain tight, calm sea image has some yellowing to the varnish and a rather odd blue tone to the paint of the sky, elsewhere paint looking rather flattened from the relining, signed lower left G Chambers 70, image with stormy sea in similar condition with relining, yellowed varnish, a little craquelure showing through the white of the paint, and an indistinct signature lower left. Both housed in ornate gilt gesso frame with Bath Restorer's labels verso and more recent attribution label.

Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
