Lot 643 , A set of eight George III Hepplewhite style mahogany dining chairs,
A set of eight George III Hepplewhite style mahogany dining chairs, including two carvers, with pierced splats, padded seats and chamfered legs
Estimate £800-1,200
Overall good, honest condition. Colour is a mid to dark brown mahogany but with some fading notably to the backs of carvers which may have stood in a window for some time. Top of the arms of the carvers are rubbed from use as are the obvious parts of the top of cresting rails. Frames in solid condition with a little shake and these look to be a proper set rather than matched. Seats are very dirty and discoloured and would require re-upholstering, typical surface scuffing and wear to the legs commensurate with age.
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
