A rare Japanese lacquer model of a kago, Edo period c.18th / 19th century, probably a wedding gift for a samurai family of rank, with engraved metal mounts, the ridged roof and side panels decorated with gilt leaves, tendrils and flowers, on a terracotta lacquer ground, each end with a gilt metal mon mount engraved with a chrysanthemum, height 32cm, length 111cm, minor losses to mounts
