Lot 858 , Seven bottles of Hemitage La Chapelle 1978, Jaboulet;
Seven bottles of Hemitage La Chapelle 1978, Jaboulet; one 1cm, four 1.5cm, one 2.5cm, one 3cm; most labels quite heavily damp-soiled, one also nicked, one also torn; five with Wine Society slip labels, one with Malmaison Wines slip label; from a small personal collection of fine wines, all Eurocave stored. This remains, with 1961 before it, and 1990 after, one of three truly great vintages of this the most famous wine of the northern Rhone. After a poor run in mid and later '90s Jaboulet are back on song so one shouldn't expect interest in the pinnacles of past achievement to decline any time soon.
